"InterChat is a communication program for users connected to a Local Area Network. It's a simple and functional tool that offers fast instant messaging and group conferencing. No central server is used, so no extra software or hardware is required. Setup is virtually instantaneous and you can add other LAN users in under a minute. In addition, InterChat is a secure solution because users can communicate without actually being connected to the Internet. InterChat runs quietly from the system tray, where you can access its compact interface. Like a regular instant messenger, you can sort all of your contacts into user groups. InterChat supports an unlimited number of logged-on users, but offers one-click blocking to prevent certain people from contacting you. The program indicates the on-line status of users, and lets you manage your own status by toggling one of three options. You can then chat one-on-one, or open up a group discussion. You can also send "Alert" messages to specific users on the list. Individual responses can be automatically timestamped. Chat transcripts may be saved to disk or copied directly to the Clipboard for use in another application.
InterChat features a customisable interface with your choice of colour schemes. Right out of the box, the program provides "on the fly" support for the English, German, Spanish and French languages.
