Inter-Chat v2.1 known faults

RICHTX32.OCX
This is caused by the Rich Text Box control being installed incorrectly on your computer. You can download the file required here. Just run the exe.

CSWSK32.OCX
This is caused by the Catalyst SocketWrench control being installed incorrectly on your system. You can download the file required here. If it still does not work then download this zip file, extract into the same folder as the Inter-Chat files and then run the 'Install SocketWrench.bat' program.

Double Typing
All blocks of conversation are reported twice. We believe this is caused by the protocol we use to communicate to other other computers. In some rare cases this is somehow repeated. We have so far been unable to stop this bug. Inter-Chat v3 uses a different protocol that we believe will not cause this problem.

Curser Flicker
This is when a users curser flickers repeatedly whenever Inter-Chat is running. We believe it to be connected to the cool menu. The cool menu shows the images on the menus at the top of the screen. There is nothing we can do to stop it. Inter-Chat v3 does not have a cool menu.
"Unable to Load Inter-Chat: &0"
This error is usually caused by the lack or one or more system files required by Inter-Chat.
To fix this go to www.conware.org/runtimes and try the test program. It will ask you to download and install any files you don't have. In particular look for the MSCOMCTL.OCX file. It will provide links to our site.
ZoneAlarm
If you have ZoneAlarm installed on your PC then you will be unable to use Inter-Chat UNLESS you add IC to the list of safe programs. Once you have done this Inter-Chat should work perfectly.

Cannot chat to a single user
You can only send information to every user not a single one. This is caused by a bug in the User Name Function that announces your name on the LAN. You cannot use any characters other that letters and numbers. Characters like _ and ( along with spaces cannot be used. The removal of these characters from your name should fix the problem.
